Tennis Travel Tips

Prepare for Altitude Changes and Changing Weather Conditions

Even when traveling within the United States, the weather and altitude can change dramatically. From playing in high winds and cold temperatures in NYC to humid heat and strong sun rays in Florida, you need to make sure you are prepared.

Be sure to check the weather forecast before you travel. You might need to bring sunglasses, more clothes, and even hydration tablets if it's humid. You might be busy once you get there, so plenty of snacks to eat between doubles matches is definitely a good idea also.

If you are traveling up north, consider more clothes to keep warm, and if you are traveling somewhere with a high altitude, be sure to string your racquets a few pounds higher to help adjust to the changing ball speeds.

Know Your Level

When you plan for a tennis getaway, it's important to know your level, as well as the level of other players in the clinics or on the trip, to make sure you get the most out of the tennis experience. Playing with players that are too weak can degrade the fun of the tennis sessions while playing with players that are much stronger could leave you out of breath on the first day. If you are unsure, give the club a call before you leave and ask the head coach for their suggestions.

Travel Light

While it is important to bring the right equipment, you also don't want to be carrying around heavy luggage wherever you go. For a lightweight carry option that works both on planes, trains, and automobiles, check out the Cancha Racquet Bag, which is designed for tennis travel.

Bring the Right Tennis Bag

As mentioned above, a stylish, practical, and travel-friendly tennis bag can make all the difference on your trip. There are many options out there, but Cancha Bags are the only water-resistant and fully customizable tennis bags built for travel. If you are looking to compare different bags, check our list of the top 25+ best designer tennis bags you should know.

You leave out Longwood Cricket Club home of 24 grass and 19 clay courts, plus home of USTA Father Son and Father Daughter National Championships. Former home of US National Men’s Double and USPro Championships. You need to read up more and get around.
