Dee Caffari made the decision to turn her back on primary school teaching in her late 20s and become a professional sailer. With no childhood background in dinghy sailing, no private backer, no technical advantage, Dee went on to sail around the world six times. She has competed in countless international races, and is the first woman to have sailed single-handed and non-stop around the world in both directions.
In this episode, Dee tells me about her journey from starting at the very bottom of the sailing industry to becoming a world record holder. She also shares with me key lessons she learned along the way, and how she now uses her past experiences to help fight against plastics in our oceans, as well as help others pursue their passions.
